MARCH 2008 FLOOD
The Storm
March 2008 in Ohio has been characterized by well above normal
precipitation. The period of 01-05 March 2008 had precipitation
averaging 2.1 inches. A storm moving from the southwest to northeast
across Ohio on 07 to 08 March at a time of well below normal temperatures
produced a general 12 to 20 inches of snow. As of 16 March, nearly all
the snow has melted. At this time, the soil conditions throughout Ohio
are saturated. Another storm system formed over the lower Mississippi
Valley and moved northeast and produced generally from 1.0 to 2.5 inches
total of rainfall as of 19 March and produced another round of flooding.
